A 1939 photo showed a stairway, but it was nothing but trees and dirt when volunteers started digging in 2018. Buried in early 2000s for reconstruction of Broadway Avenue, we hoped it was still there.
Two years, many hours and true dedication paid off—Beth Good, Jeannine McDonald and the Robbinsdale Lions Club found the stairway. This photo album shows the process of that big Lilac Way dig.
***Sept. 2020 update: A MNDOT contractor will restore (rebury) the stairway. It was covered as part of the support system for the rebuilt Broadway Ave. bridge. It is possible they will be able to reclaim some of the walk/wall materials to be used in other areas.***
