“I remember going to Graeser Park many times back in the late 50’s and early 60’s. But more than Graeser Park we spent time at the picnic area on the west side of the train bridge and north of 43rd Avenue, on the west side of 100 (Graeser Park South). My folks lived on 47th and Xenia and it was on the way from Northeast Minneapolis,

We would easily pull off Highway 100 by the Graeser Park beehive, with a picnic table right by where we parked. Our kids, ages 2 to 8, could run around the park while we roasted wieners. When done, we’d turn right on 43rd and head over to my folks’ house.

There was almost always sticks and wood at the beehive. It always seemed shady and cool on a hot summer afternoon there.

Fun memories.”
